What? A New site? Only for updates? You got that right! Although currently only consisting of Neocities because it’s free… it's also just the most universal way to inform people since you don't need a password or anything.
Although I’ve been programming this for a little bit now, it’s clear that nobody’s truly been on it yet so why don’t I give you a tour already? Currently, you are on the update tab on the “March 2026” page, I know, it’s not too impressive… for it’s simply an archive of update pages, but if you exit out of that, you have a centered catalogue with TL;DRs and such. I really hope this formatting works better for users of the site because I believe it’s working pretty well in my opinion.
When you exit out of the updates page, you get to the Home/Index page, I know pretty snazzy huh? We have a logo for the site! It’s pretty simple and laid out, there’s a section for my projects… and work, which wasn’t made by me, but decided to help on by contributing. (What I specifically helped on would be stated under the logo/link.)
Oh yeah, and there’s a proper link to the NEXUS PLEXUS!!!! (On the home pages)
So phenomenal news! Psychescapes 3 has a release date as told by Flowerie! The mascot of The Nexus Plexus! Which recently bloomed into an entirely new flower? But what I didn’t specify was the time, it will be at 8 PM EST!
Like I said on my last update in February, this one will be more about balance and probably will be the “norm” for the series heading onwards until I decide to conclude it. This isn’t because I feel like I have to tone it down, but rather the fact that in comparison to the previous two, this one takes a less serious role. I have finished drafting, and I know lines and coloring will be pretty quick as well. So yeah... Fun!
I’ll be honest when I say that right now… my life feels like a juggling act, thank goodness I have 8 arms right? Seriously though, I’m gonna count how many I have right now.
...
It seems that I’m working on 6 things constantly at once that’s not even mentioning the shifts that day-to-day life offers.
Actually going on that, there’s something interesting about my ideology, which I really haven’t talked about too often because it doesn’t really get mentioned. All my projects will have an end to them, and when they're done, they're done. I know it's a scary thought but in modern society given the fact that every single "thing" continues in a way, but I want my work to leave as much impact as possible to its audience as I want it to. Why each issue is 26 pages each instead of the traditional 32 is simply because I don't want to "milk the ideas dry." After all... Psychescapes itself is the smallest in scope. To be honest, it's probably the only project where I could make it just by myself with no help from the outside. It's honestly kind of a beautiful thing to realize that sheer willpower is getting me through this.
As speaking about surprises, I haven’t been exactly proud of how Psychescapes hasn’t really been promoted other than “Takeover Tuesday” on Newgrounds. Every time I feel like I’m promoting something it feels scummy. So I’ve actually decided to do a little challenge for myself. First thing to state, Psychescapes will not be Newgrounds exclusive anymore, but it will probably be on it's best quality on Newgrounds AND it will be posted first to Newgrounds… but I have some alternate sources in order for it to catch the eye of others. This includes a new Reddit account (Which you can upvote here) which will post on r/comics a few days after the comic releases. I understand that Reddit is probably one of the worst services to be on depending on person to person given it’s more disgusting individuals, thankfully r/comics seems to be pretty peaceful(?) so I’ll be giving it a chance and if it doesn’t work out, it just doesn’t. I where’s blading a few things actually, originally I wanted to make a Bluesky or Twitter, but then I remember that I don’t really like those platforms given that Twitter is a shitty hellhole and Bluesky is a complicated mess. You definitely know I’m not giving that human-chameleon data of MY work either.
Oh and on top of that, I’ve been thinking of doing a competition with rewards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The 2 ideas I’ve been stuck on is “should it be a Dub contest?” or “should it be an art contest?” If it’s dub competition, because #2 probably would be awkward for any competition, only to leave 1 and 3. If it’s an art contest, the problem I would have is spotlighting it, so I would wonder if I would have to talk to someone like TomFulp about how to manage an event like that.
What? A message related to The Nexus Plexus? Why would I want to know that? Well… it’s actually a pretty important blooming. Being serious though, what is basically means is, I’ve decided to change a few things around. First of all, the server has a new look, our mascot, Flowerie, will change its look every solstice for the season. Currently, we are on the Spring iteration which is an homage to the original server icon. It’s important to show activity of the server at least.
Second, information and rules have been updated to fit more concurrently and to be more original in it's passion. I don’t see these problems happening in the community I’m in, but I’m placing a safeguard just in case.
Third, there’s a few new channels added in order to highlight, first of all, #show-stage! This will be different from showcase in a varying amount of ways. For anyone which has larger projects which they want to show that are Work in Progress or even just span multiple messages. I’ve decided to create a channel specifically for that! Just a note, you can also cross-post between channels by the way, as in… you can forward showcase posts into your projects, but you can also forward project posts into your showcase. There’s also a few tags in order for people to generally search. I’ve seen a few of you have these incredible works, which honestly I think deserve to be highlighted.
Oh, you wanna join? Here ya go!
Oh yeah before I also forget, I do have an Ecco the Dolphin stream planned tomorrow… but due to timing, I’ve actually decided to delay it onto the final week of March, (specifically Tuesday the 24th) why? This isn’t because of timing, but rather because I think it would be better for my viewership, usually why I stream so late at night is because I don’t really have time any other way.
This is ultimately what caused the Floigan Brothers stream to end before I could even beat the game, it’s not because I rage quit, but because it was halfway through midnight, and I thought I would’ve beat in the game by before that point given the gameplay. It’s also so we can get better viewership given the fact that this game is a little more known.
Despite initially growing up with the game, I never completed it and I want that fate to be different before we get any news or info about the remake other than its tracks. I decided to go more obscure. Usually people say that the Sega CD version is better because it’s generally twice as long. People usually define it as the version to play other than the PC version which has better performance usually. This will be very similar to the Flagan Bros stream where I initially start off with no help before I eventually search about it if I get really stuck. I cannot wait to play it though!
Around… 2 weeks ago I decided to make some fanart for a little upcoming project known as Doghole Dungeon. Doghole is a Roguelike-ish Undertale fangame inspired by the Doghole room from the Undertale 10th anniversary stream. Well anyways, as of today there’s a new issue of the newsletter today! and guess what, it’s ME! Seriously, go check it out. I genuinely think that for what I’ve seen of it, that’s probably one of the most impressive fan works that I’ve ever seen. I feel like it’s a celebration of what makes Undertale truly itself. It’s generally impressive that they’ve built up three entire layers (Dog, Sakura, Cyber) in the span of nearly half a year. Honestly, it stands out more by trying to be its own thing.
Sure, you could argue I do have bias, given the fact that I am close friends with the lead of the project… but honestly, the charm about it is the fact that it's not just some retake or a prequel, or even a sequel, but rather consolidating its idea within this one area, which was basically a hypothetical. It’s an expansion of a “what if” and respectfully nods to everything the community has pushed for. It’s definitely deserving of its discussion and notoriety.
Yes… this IS story time… right? Well anyways… I’m gonna rank my TOP TEN FONTS! THIS IS THE CONTENT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
Yeah, I think you expected this from the guy which thinks loose design is awesome. I think honestly the fact that you can make something which doesn’t fit for any style… fun! To be honest, it doesn’t even follow its own purpose, which is the fact that it’s casual and legible, sure I could read it, but I have trouble reading it. So why the hell is it in my top ten? Well... it's iconic! It's so bad that it's actually good in a fucked up way!
Who know I was such a bland man? Yeah… I love how sharp and readable it is, it has a sense of class that I can’t really tell from any other font in this list. It really does feel like professional formatting, which makes sense why it’s used in so many essays. It's just... bold and high standing, in fact it reminds me of old typographies from Ancient Rome... just, new!
TECHNICALLY a font given its insertion in the Invader Zim DVDs as the ONLY subtitles, it’s REALLY cool. The font is very very blocky yet allows for the time to have these sharp intricate curves. It really is reflective of the style of the show.
I feel like if you’ve seen this one, you can easily tell what it is. It’s very grainy but rounded as a font. I don’t think the fun itself is too interesting, but why I’m ranking it so high is generally given the fact that it was for the “You wouldn’t steal a car” ads, which ironically enough would use a pirated version of the font that made it so popular. Even though I don’t really see it being used in a modern setting, I think its rustic value could create something interesting.
ARROWS! When people mention Wingdings, they usually talk about Wingdings 1 or 2, but what about the love for Wingdings 3? I mean it’s all different shapes and sizes for arrows in all directions! There can even be arrows in your arrows! When emoticons and emojis replaced wingdings, obviously these became obsolete, but like… a lot of them can still be used today.
Bold AND brash for a font. It’s mostly known for being used in Neon Genesis Evangelion as the “main font” used in the intro and episode cards. Generally, it can work for a lot of reasons, it’s clearly the sharp defining edge which tries making the show rigid before it spirals out of control. The only complaint that I really have about it is the fact that it’s only in bold because this could also work really well if it was thin.
I think you would’ve already expected me to mention this font. Verdana is a humanist font created in 1996 and has this perfect homogeny of sharp and smooth. I’ll tell you one thing, if you wonder what Jackie uses the font, it was generally because it fit all eras of his character while also not being a common choice for fonts in comparison to Ariel, Helvetica, Roboto, et cetera.
Am I promoting my own font? Well a-doy I am. To be honest people don’t really consider how hard making a font is. The cool thing about making fonts that they’re generally accessible, but in return you have to actually work at it. This one is messy yet formal, which is mainly the thing that I like about it. There’s not too many fonts which tray having looser boundaries, and if there is usually it‘s only in capital letters, so making my own font was actually just a pretty fun time! Yes... it was made using my art software and some external stuff.
When I think of fun fonts, this is at least one of them. It's very intriguing and just interesting on a design level given how simple it is. All caps, no garbage. It's a classic!
THE go to font for me when I think of text as a whole, it’s also the most popular font but it generally just works for readability. It was made in 1957, which makes it the oldest one on the list… it’s also generally used in a lot of promotional media, including it’s alternative Helvetica Neue, which fun fact, is used on [adult swim]! It's also the font of this very site!
Yes, you heard me right! So for the past… year? I’ve been trying to make a DVD for practice. I actually mentioned it in my first update in September. To be honest I haven’t really talked about it beyond that, mainly because of fear. It’s very messy in presentation and it’s not the best way to research about this film, but I tried my best to talk and highlight about everything. Actually, the main thing I’ve been stuck on is subtitling on the Super Dub. You see, since the audio file is edited for Super Dub to sync up, and because captions ≠ subtitles for most formatting. I have to manually make my own subtitles for it! I’m actually halfway through, maybe even less. Currently it’s around 600 SUBTITLE LINES. I tried giving it my own flair when needed to distinguish it from captioning but DAMN I didn’t realize I did that much dialogue!
So here’s the deal, if I get everything done by July 20th of 2026, in celebration of the anime’s 40th anniversary. I will singlehandedly upload it on Archive.org, if not, it will still be uploaded with an “(UNFINISHED)” tag until I would update the file when subtitling would be done. I think titler should give more credit for what they do, they have to think of clever ways to subtitle will also making it easily readable. I also have to give credit to a lot of DVD creators, recently with the push to physical media again, i’m shocked to see that not too many people make high-quality DVDs anymore… I know this sounds like me being an old person, but there’s a certain charm about early DVD design that nothing compares to. I always blamed Blu-Ray for that decision, given the fact that most companies decided to have a pop-up menu at all times but it really is just a lack of convenience.
So… I’ve finalized my thoughts on Floigan Bros. after playing it live on stream.
The game itself has a really good style and idea. It’s a semi-open world puzzle game end it’s very objective focused, the problem about the game though is it’s heavy reliance on “points”, the system between Hoigle and Moigle…
You see, you have to obtain points, points are obtained by minigames... minigames which range in amount and time. It doesn't sound like a bad idea until you realize the first minigame only gives you 2 points, and that later ones don't add too many. In fact, it requires a shitton of points even to beat the game, since the highest one is 50.
Am I crazy for saying that this game would've benefitted from being more open choice? Like I think it would've been clever if Moigle
Person which has NEVER played any Sam and Max game here, but I’ve seen some segments of the comic series. What I will say is that this series looks absolutely beautiful, it definitely elevated Fox Kids at the time. It’s right is very up there with the actual game and the episodic format really does work for a series like this given the fact that they’re detectives. So… what’s the feel after watching it all? I think it’s okay, it’s early digital animation work so there’s some aspects which are still shoddy about it, but it does allow for a lot of detail… I think like some work that I’ve mentioned before, I probably would’ve loved this if I were younger. At the very least though it is a very enjoyable show with a lot of fast-paced comedy and to be honest it’s more in tune with adult comedy than you think. There’s literally an episode where they basically go to the equivalent of Vietnam but it’s Central Park instead. I will say I didn’t click with the season finale because it felt… a little cheap and cliche BUT I will admit, this show cracked me up little buddy.
Another game series which I haven’t played but watched stuff beforehand. In fact, I think I watched this before the update so I should’ve added it, but I guess I didn’t, fully processing this... it’s an OK film. It’s basically a branchway between two games and I will admit that, honestly, it’s OK for the mystery aspect. It tells a good story with some good service here and there, but honestly, I feel like the pacing was a little whack given it two hours long, but the trade for that is that you get this beautiful art in these unique settings which are semi-steampunk with these cool mechanical contraptions, in fact, the film interested me so much that soon I’m probably gonna play the games as I downloaded them all onto my 3DS.
I’ve actually been cracking away at this game very slowly! Usually I don’t review too many hacks mostly do something absolutely amazing which completely changes the experience, as if they’re using the engine to make their own vision…
I’ve heard a lot of people say that this hack is “weird” or that Peach is “too big" and it’s like… who gives a shit? The only people which I see say stuff like that are either deeply closeted or even worse than you think. I can see how people could connect their own bridges... but honestly, it’s just a stylistic choice. Besides it’s really cool thematically, it tries mixing a lot of Mario games, including stuff like a food-based world, secret levels which are homages to Sonic, hell even Powerups like the Hammer Suit. Although I haven’t completed it yet, I am near completion and I gotta admit, this has as much charm as a 2D Mario game while kinda having this cuteness to it, phenomenal work!
I’ll be honest when I say this, I am a sucker for anthologies. TAS was a merger between Don Hertzfeldt of Bitter Films and Mike Judge of… Judgemental Films(?) in order to revive the animation scene in theaters, which is different from Spike and Mike’s film festival, which was usually… a festival. These compilations would be curated by them will also standing out in a very unique way. Its… hit or miss, generally animation is very subjective, it’s very complicated to explain how I felt about all these films so I kind of reviewed them all on Letterboxd, some are absolutely funny while others are just questionable in their existence. The most iconic bit is probably the actual “intermissions” from volume one as they just simply make meta humor of the medium.
This is the most unconventional Paramount license work that I’ve seen, mainly because it was made under bitter films, but still… it’s really weird seeing one of your favorite characters just appear on a DVD, despite the fact that it’s not technically under a massive corporation, so you have these really cool intricate menus which explain a lot and little bios for the DVD booklet! The only one that I couldn’t review on letterbox was the pencil tests made by Mike Judge, but you’re more so gag driven and are just okay… they’re gags and caricatures which are just… absurd but in the funniest way.
First volume has some absolutely beautiful and funny stuff, my personal picks would be Mt. Head for being this unexpected masterpiece which is both comedic but also very expressive, La course á l’abîme for being very impressive given its restriction, and my favorite, Aria, not only does it have a beautiful sense of scenery, it actually blew me away during the second half as I saw what was going on.
Volume 2 (2005) is honestly the worse counterpart, despite it having the better selection. I think my highlight is obviously “When The Day Breaks” is an animation which has a special place in my heart, not only is it style very different from what separated it before, but it’s usage of its visuals in order to connect its narrative makes a bittersweet film. That again, though, I do believe that the less amount of work, the more the outliers stand, although I don’t think that stuff like “Pan With Us” or “The F.E.D.S.” is bad, it’s not my cup of tea and for how long they last it kind of sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison.
I do eventually want to watch volume three, but for now, I don’t even have a copy.
What to say about this remake of a 2010s classic… really strange yet really fun! I’m not a poker person, so I was shocked when I won my first round! It’s very open and helpful for you to understand how poker works and how to manage that. Poker/Texas Hold’em has a decent amount if chance, It has a lot of personality within its characters and writing, how they collide and bounce off each other’s behaviors, with Strong Bad being aggressive, Max being a wild card in behavior, Tycho being strategic and cautious… It’s a crossover but in the way where it doesn’t feel pointless. It may be a simple ten dollar game, but goddamnit, it is totally worth that price for how much atmosphere and detail it has. Some of my favorite conversations are When Strongbad and Heavy talk, or when Max and Heavy talks… AKA I really like Heavy despite not being a TF2 fanatic.
Recommended to me by a friend, it's alright! It feels very loose for now, there's not too much of a story except for a "save the world!" type deal. It's gameplay has a lot of potential, it's momentum based but in a way where you have full control of it.
The catch is when you have all that momentum and a lot of control of it, even though you get used to the controls, the stages are in my opinion, the weakest part of the game.
So very recently, a different friend recommended me, after discussing some things about Evangelion in the new short that released… if Chainsaw Man is good, in which I decided to give it a read due to their recommendation. So I did… although not physically and just downloaded it onto my hard drive, I decided to read the first nine volumes in order to see if I was or was not a fan of it. Basically a volume a month, how neat!
After reading… it’s okay. I think it’s very rough in finding its identity as a story. This isn’t to a point where it’s just separate stories detached from each other, but each chapter kind of has its own thing going. I think no matter what the visual style is very pretty as it follows the very defining aspect of blending comedy with action. It’s very impressive art made by a phenomenal artist, the only true struggle that I have with it is honestly the narrative, because this is an introduction it shifts from place to place very quickly. BUT it’s also… very awkward. Well, I can like characters such as Power, I think Makima has awkward implementation, I mean already I can see that this character could easily become an antagonist at any time as they’re just basically using Denji for her own personal goal, but I don’t like how their “dynamic” is… y’know? Besides it only lasts like a couple chapters… sometimes briefly, other times way too long. Whatever, I did have fun reading it so I'm satisfied.
To be honest, I think my determining point is on March 24th, I've already read 8 chapters, and as Part 2 comes to a close, I've been hearing a lot of... debate over it. If this is the moment where the manga ends... or if it's only the end of a second part. If itn doesn't end, I'll ride the tide, if it's a good ending, I'll still ride the tide, but if the ending is claimed bad by fans... I might not read the rest of it. For any story, you have to have payoff and release... that's what I've heard is important for most conclusions anyways, it doesn't have to be happy, it can be a whole slew of things, but when you hold people over for nearly a decade and do a Sopranos... or really an ending which is sudden, sure it gets remembered... but at what cost?
Besides, I do know that... reading from a few things that the manga "fell off" over time. That Fujimoto likes messing with the audience, that he's a huge fan of The Big Lebowski's ending, that "it felt like it was all for nothing." so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Anyways, huge shoutout to Power she is literally the best character she gives Beavis energy.
Actually, I did watch this film before, but I felt like it deserved a rewatch since I didn’t really think too much of it in 2022.
If there’s anything defining of the film, Peppers describe as an “anti-film.” The search of the film itself is supposed to be a narratively complex situation. In a way though I view it more so as one of the most “real” coming-of-age stories I’ve seen despite its heavy use of fiction.
Jonni describes the experience as close to her own life. Saying that the whole NASA analogy is based off of her real experience with the animation industry. Honestly, I’ve already thought about this internal conflict, if I wanna be in the industry, I’m worried that I would have to conform to some standard “neutral sided” story despite that being unrealistic, sacrifice my very will in order to tell a story, at least for me that’s the fate that I don’t want for my work. Besides, I don’t even think that any company would even dare picking up my work, it’s the fact that the stuff that I focus on is more taboo than an average project. Thankfully, as the years go by, I see these statements less. Animation is like any other job, industrial leads suck because they have a total detachment of the people below them, unfortunately, I don’t know how long we can deal with that type of bullshit. In fact, I think the tables have already turned, many industry leads are failing to even maintain the genre of animation, as it’s returning back to this niche artist driven plethora. I really mean it, I’ve never seen so many companies rise out of the ground out of nowhere, even though it still doves into commercialism, I’ll be fully accepting of that aspect as long as it fully allows for a creator to have free freedom of their work.
I think there’s a sense of beauty with Barber during the last third of the movie. Their hometown basically turns into a pile of clay with Mayor Wisconsin nowhere to be found, I presume them to die from their own creation, parrots infesting the clay to eat because it’s toxic before realizing that their family is now in New Hampshire. Their brother, Peter, comes out as gay, even though I don’t think it’s the best interpretation of acceptance, not only of the acceptance of Peter, because it’s just kind of casually mentioned… but the acceptance of the character themselves as they return back to their apartment, realizing that they almost could’ve died, eventually they decide to quit their job at NASA in kind of find peace within themselves. It’s a very beautiful message, which honestly is reflective of how I viewed my life. It’s the total grounding of reality which they appreciate… and it’s something I appreciate here too.
Hey, check it out, I made a sketch draft for some fanart featuring the buds!
A few years ago, I was introduced to this channel known as WayneRadioTV, this would be after Spamton Sweepstakes, and that I found a little series of theirs, that it was focused deeply on half-life, again that I generally remember from my past. This was before AI itself came a popular concept and was more so often praised subject in science fiction. During the pandemic era, watching the series was genuinely a blast for me as it reintroduced me to one of my favorite video game series of all time.
So what did I think? I’ll be honest, this stream initially starts out rough. Obviously Wayne mentions that this stream would be 1.7x more annoying compared to the first and there’s some reasons for that…
This is where I get into spoilers so be careful!
Even then, on a narrative level for the start... It’s clear that they put in a lot of effort but nothing really lands, the Leonard bit is funny as fuck since they can’t have Barney, but it kinda forms to be awkward aftermath with the world camera being broken so it’s just… Dr. Bubby talking not knowing what Gordon is doing. The door bit is also… okay I guess, I thought it was funny. The old cast coming back was cool, Tommy existing as the G-Man now is awesome as it feels like he grew up along with us (Even though he's like in his forties/fifties now but whatever) so that's fun, I’m fine to see Bubby, I love that he aged with the game unlike Coomer... but his bits usually fell flat sometimes, we also see Coomer and Darnold, which I’m very excited to see later both in Black Mesa East and Nova Prospekt. The problem for Act I, and the series for now is pacing, they REALLY linger on bits to make them land, honestly it should probably pick up the pace when Act II happens. Even when the plot starts finding its footing, the pacing is still slow… REALLY slow. They like obsessing with bits which damages their landing rate. When they actually travel, it feels like the jokes roll off naturally.
It’s cast is different now, the “Main Five” are Gordon, Christopher, Father Grigori, a Vortigaunt, and some guy which looks like Barney? I just call him the "Eats" guy. I feel like given their interactions so far, they have a lot of potential, Grigori and the vortigaunt already make me laugh a lot, Christopher and the "Eats" guy have their moments though which can flesh out. It's definitely a better pace from Breaking Bad VR. Oh yeah, I'm very excited to see that the villain isn't just Benrey again but rather Breen! That was my biggest hope!
Is it as good as the chaos known as the first HLVRAI? Not yet, the pacing issue remains for these characters BUT I do believe that this series could actually be better than one if they play their cards right. It's so fun finally watching this.
I was gonna say “they have to do a partial retake and edit proper” and it seems like they’ll try to in the upcoming weeks. Another hope of mine honestly is for the cast to revolve, I do think I’ll take the current cast, but the idea of Gordon going along with his journey with different members, new and old, would be a really fun aspect. It’s a small hope and since the story is already written out… I hope it stands in a way where it works. For now, I would say wait until the edited version comes out.
I would say this month's consumptions were pretty good! Not really too much to add since I was busy but it was more fun and honestly, made me more open to specific types of works. Next month, I know I'm gonna watch and play a lot of media since I ordered soooo much!
(HEY BUD! CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO CHECK OUT THE POSTS BY THE OG ARTISTS! I MEAN IT!)
Skid… with a g? Wait what? Skidge has been a long time friend of mine and to be honest, I think he’s very underrated in his work. His work doesn’t really get disgusting too much but I think it’s pretty impressive if I have a say in it. I feel like while my style is more loose and messy, Skidge’s has a defined/refined look to it. Although I can’t really find examples of his 2-D work in public… yet, is 3-D work actually imitates his style pretty well in my opinion. His Sublo and Tangy Mustard models are absolutely phenomenal and his Robotnik model is superb.
So I think, given the fact that I don’t really have a cap limit for updates anymore, (unless if I somehow have a file limit on websites) I have the chance to show a second artist. I feel like for pacing, I lead with someone which is existing in my community is good, gives you the chance to gain recognition while in return showcasing that you're on some guys newsletter, but I should also introduce you to some web artists which I really like as well! It's a neat trade off!
Chewchewer is an artist that I have seen work of given the fact that I’m in their server, but I will say that their style is both simplistic yet complex at the same time. Their art is very one of a kind, it uses these thin non-aliased lines similar to Microsoft Paint, because of this "early web/comic feel", it gives a very simple yet identifiable style. If you somehow haven’t heard of them... well you will now!
Chew is one of the nicest people I've ever talked to like... ever. They're very passionate towards their community and friends. They also seem to go through a lot of hardships that they're open about which I deeply appreciate. (Although I will admit sometimes it makes me worried lol) I would heavily recommend giving them a follow.
And there you have it folks! Our first proper “update” on this site! I know that honestly, it is quite the format shift just to go from an artist driven platform to a fully independent site… but honestly, I do believe that this works out better in the end. I don’t intend this to be the permanent option, Neocities has a 200GB limit for bandwidth, which is a lot for a site that can be operated for free. There’s a one gigabyte limit, which is very generous given the fact that I’ve only used 3% just for building the entire site around here. I do fear that like… if this gets traction down the line, I’ll run out of monthly bandwidth and have to spend money out of my own pocket in order to keep the site up.
I’ll be honest and say that I think I deeply appreciate this format that I’m using. Sure, it’s just basic HTML and CSS, I mean anybody can do this. The thing is, though I feel like such an ideology is becoming an ancient, and it’s my dedication similar to the rest of us to at least preserve and pursue. I’ve been seeing this platform have a “boom” given the fact that Social Media and it’s scheme has slowly been turning out to be a horrible thing for the industry given the fact that none of it feels human anymore... I think manually coding HTML has made me regain some of my sanity and has made me feel honest. I believe we were mentally in a better place when we had more control of what we could talk about and pushing the effort to have some reassurance on it. There will always be flaws with the internet, nothing's perfect after all, but the fact you can fully customize and really just put all of this on a free site... that's a bargain.
Oh yeah, two things not to forget, give me some advice on the site and these new reformatted updates. What should I add? What makes it more interactive for the reader? But also... don't forget to share the site to people which could be interested in such an... odd little thing like my humble abode! :)
Anyways, I hope you have a great rest of March and a good 2/3rds of April!
Your pal, John.
